We have an informational meeting for parents who are interested in sending their kids to our Christian School for next year. Please pray for people to show up to learn more!
Thank you!

It has been a crazy, full week! We moved again and are settling into our new house. It didn't have hot water until electric shower heads were installed and we don't have A/C, but God is sooo good. This house does not feel like a rental - it feels like home.
I had a meeting yesterday with a new friend of ours who is an attorney here in town. We went over all of the things we have to do to "officially" set our school up here in Costa Rica. (Not going to be too difficult.) I asked her to give me an estimate as to how much it would cost and she did.
Then when I got home last night, I found out some new friends had slipped a card into Brigit's purse with the exact amount of money we need for the attorney (which of course they knew NOTHING about)! They were simply wanting to encourage us in what God is doing. Wow! We are just trying to keep up with the Lord - it absolutely clear that He wants this school to happen! Have a great Thanksgiving! When God is in something - NOTHING can stop it!
We had all $400 come in today to help us with the first deposit on our building for the school. THANK YOU JESUS! God bless those who gave!! I will send out a mass email later, but for those of you who check the blog and/FB regularly, I thought I would send out this quick prayer request.
We need to put down a $400 deposit on the space for the school to hold it until February. The landlord is willing to rent to us, but he told me, "the first person to come to me with the money gets the space." This is by far the BEST location for Uvita Christian Academy - I don't want lose it. So please pray about helping out with the deposit and share this with others who might want to help - THANKS! There is a link on our website to make a donation via Paypal (you don't have to have a Paypal account - you can use a credit or debit card too!). Thanks! www.touchoffire.net Brigit and I had the privilege of praying with a new friend to make Jesus her Lord and savior. Awesome night!
Please pray for her to get strong in the word- we hope to spend a great deal of time with her over the next few weeks to do some discipleship. PTL! It looks like God has made a way for us to come back to the States for 12 days in December! We are excited to have some time to see family and friends - if you would like to connect with us, let me know!
It is official, we will be launching a Christian school here in Costa Rica for the 2013 school year.
Much more info to come later! Tonight the wife preached in Spanish, then she translated herself!
I guess that's what happens when your translator doesn't show up for Wednesday night service...ha! Only in Latin America!! Yesterday I had the privilege of preaching at church. I taught on the biblical value of honor - honor for God, honor for our pastor...honor for one another.
At the end of the service, an old man (who has been there once or twice before) came up to Brigit and me and asked a question that really made me think....he asked for some coffee. Not a cup of coffee, but the remaining half of a pot of coffee that was made for the people at church. Unfortunately, I had just dumped it out and cleaned the pot as we were preparing to leave. This gentleman was not looking for a casual "cup of Joe"; he was looking to take it home because he is so desparately poor that this would be an integral part of his "food" consumption for the day. Of course the man was able to speak with Rosalina - the gal who is charge of the Hands of Mercy ministry at the church. She gave him some rice and beans... I have learned that a million people starve to death everyday in the world. I want to do more to help the poor... So this morning, as you have your daily cup of coffee, think about those in the world who won't have enough to eat today. Try to find a way to make a difference in their lives! (PS - I have also learned that the beans and rice pantry at our church is almost always out of stock - if you would like to make a donation to help fill the shelves, visit our website and put a note that says "Hands of Mercy" on the Paypay form.)
