We spent the day yesterday "car shopping" and looking at different properties. We are still on the hunt for the truck, but we did commit to an office space for TOFM's new Int'l Headquarters! It will be in the retail center below. We have made quite a few new friends. People are very friendly down here - ticos and gringos alike. One of my favorite things is the fresh food in Costa Rica. We have an abundance of fresh fruit and veggies right at our fingertips. We actually made lemonade for dinner last night with lemons that our new friend picked off of her tree and gave us! Now...off to work I go! We are planning our next mission trip for a group to come down in February - we hope you can make it!

We have "officially" moved into the house we will be staying in for the first month. It is a nice place, but sleeping with no A/C will take a little while for me to get used to...(spoiled american).
This morning I was awakened about 4:30am to the pack of howler monkeys that live in the jungle behind our house - didn't need my alarm clock...these guys are LOUD! Ha! As I was having my time with the Lord this morning looking out toward the Pacific Ocean, I couldn't help but think about how BIG our God is. Already we have met a half a dozen people, most who need Jesus in a serious way. I know that He has called us here, and He is going to make everything work out perfectly for my family. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31 NKJV) PRAYER REQUESTS ~ We have 5 days to find a vehicle. To this point, we only have about half of the money raised we need to buy a good, solid truck...so...we are in faith KNOWING that God is going to make a way! If we can pray for you, please shoot us an email and we will be glad to do so! Well friends, we have arrived in CR. All is well and we are excited about what the Lord has in store for us!
We will check in again tomorrow! Thanks for the prayers! We are closing on our house today. Your prayers are appreciated that all goes smoothly.
I wanted to take a minute to say THANK YOU to Pam Smith who has been the best realtor ever. Pam, and her husband Nathan, have been partners with TOFM for a long time and I cannot tell you how pleased we have been with her service during this process. If you need a realtor for residential or commercial purposes, you really should contact her. http://www.harbertcompany.com/view_agent.asp?AGENTID=5 Thanks for the prayers! Two weeks from today we will wake up in another country. It feels crazy...but exciting all at the same time!
Our house is sold, my truck has sold, and yesterday we sold Brigit's car - thankfully, my friend who is buying it is going to allow us to drive it until the day before we leave. While in the word this morning, the Lord really impressed a scripture on my heart: "He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore "it was accounted to him fo righteousness."" Romans 4:20-22 When each of us faces a time in life when we need to see God come through in amazing ways, we MUST be FULLY CONVINCED that He will fulfill His promises to us. So this morning, I am fully convinced that the Lord is going to provide EVERYTHING we need to fulfill His will in Costa Rica - and I believe that He will do the same for you! Today was bittersweet for me. I sold my Chevy Suburban which was a total blessing, but I am going to miss Ol' Blue - she was a faithful truck (must be a guy thing). Thank you to all who have been so supportive of our move. We sincerely appreciate your prayers! Now...on to my next truck! God is going to provide! Watch and see! ;-)
We are down to two weeks until closing! Things are good...
Exciting Mission Trip Development - It looks like we may be putting a team trip together for February or March 2013! It will be a mix of R&R and evangelistic outreaches - more info to come soon! Also - we really feel like the Lord is challenging us to believe Him for BIG things - therefore, the picture of the truck below is what we are believing for! |
