Over the years, I’ve learned that I can’t ask myself how I feel about everything going on in my life. In other words, if I don’t love everything going on right now, I don’t really consider how that makes me feel. It’s not a good idea for me to spend extra time pondering the things I don’t enjoy about my life or my work. Think about it.
No matter what you’ve decided to do with your life—even if you are working your dream job and feel like everything is fitting into place—there will always be some aspect of it that you don’t really enjoy, or even find annoying. Certain things will always be a drudgery, and you won’t want to do them. It can be like this with your diet or other healthy decisions you’re trying to make. Let me give you an example. I usually want to snack after dinner, even though I’m not supposed to. (You know, it’s that whole intermittent fasting thing where you try to go without food for a certain number of hours to be healthy…you should check out the research!) Well, it isn’t very much fun some days, but you can definitely get into the habit of not eating during certain times if you work at it. That said, there are times I still want to eat something yummy in the evening when I shouldn’t. But I have told myself this before: “Brigit, you don’t even have to get upset about it. You’re just not going to eat anything else tonight, and you don’t have to have an opinion about it. Just move on.” Maybe this doesn’t make sense to you at all but let me make this point. In the Book of Romans, we read this: So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up by the dictates] of the flesh. (Romans 8:12) When we hear about the “flesh” in the Bible, God is speaking to us about our unredeemed nature as human beings. He’s talking about our soul (the mind, will, and emotions) and our body. (1 Thess. 5:23) This has really helped me…because there was a time when I thought all Christians just automatically felt like doing the right thing, and I felt weird or wrong because I didn’t. I wondered how they always managed to do good. The truth is, they were more likely choosing to do things they didn’t feel like doing. I’m not saying it’s like that EVERY TIME, but let’s face it—there are times we need to say the right thing or do the right thing and we’ve got no emotions to support it. We have to realize that we are not obligated to our carnal nature—we can do the right thing, even if we don’t feel like it. This is a pretty big life lesson, if you’ll listen to me today. I like it, because it really saves on the whole emotional drain we experience when we get really good and worked up about something. We just don’t have to have an emotional reaction if bad things happen, or something pops up we really don’t want to do. As an act of the human will, you can decide to do the thing you should do, even if there are no excited emotions to back it up. I guess that’s how those amazing Christians get it done—they’ve discovered the key. It’s okay if you don’t feel like doing the right thing. You can do it anyway.

Let’s face it…there are all kinds of things to be afraid of today. People are afraid they won’t have enough money, afraid for their safety, afraid of the future and what it might hold - the list goes on and on! And I won’t lie to you, there are times when all these thoughts come around in my mind, too. Especially if I’m awake in the middle of the night, I’ve noticed that the enemy will come around with his list of things I should be worried about. (Not sure why he chooses to do that at night, but if you’ve found the same thing you’re not alone.)
Here’s the key though…no matter what the thought is, no matter what kind of fear or worry tries to get control of your thinking, you don’t have to settle for that. Lots of people, even some Christians, say it’s okay to worry and it’s not a big deal. But the Bible has a different story to tell, and because I’ve lived both ways, I can share that choosing not to worry and choosing not to fear is far better! For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7) So fear is something on the outside, that tries to come in. God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, and it’s not His plan for us. If we know this, then we have a Bible right to resist it. Not only that, but you can resist fear based on these verses below, so keep reading. Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7) It looks like I’m not supposed to have anxiety about anything! Anxiety is a fancy word for fear, so we’ve got the right understanding on this. We are NOT SUPPOSED to let fear remain, because God tells us not to do it. If he says don’t do it, then we must have the capacity to resist it. Here’s another verse. Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. Be well-balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. (1 Peter 5:6-8) Again, if God is telling us to cast our anxieties, worries, and concerns once and for all on Him, then we must have the ability to do that. No more excuses to hide behind. We can do whatever we need to do today! Don’t let fearful or anxious thoughts stay in your mind when you have a Bible right to get rid of them! Maybe you’re like me today, and you just got some not-so-great news. Maybe you’re like me, and even though you’re hearing negative things, you yearn to keep things positive…you don’t want to let news about the virus, news about your business, news about your husband’s job, or news about the economy bring you down. Maybe you’re determined today, and so am I.
But what if your strength is running low? Maybe you’re on the verge of a breakdown because you just can’t handle one more piece of discouraging news, and you’re not sure what to do next. You’re paralyzed, because you’ve been pushed too far. All hope is gone, and you can’t seem to find one positive thing to focus on. If you’re already STRONG, this will help you. If you’re feeling really WEAK, this will help you. If all your strength is gone, you’ve got to put one foot in front of the other, and just keep walking forward. You don’t have time to get lost in fear. Don’t allow your mind to be overrun with scary, anxious thoughts, because this will only take you down lower and lower. You don’t have to feel bad about the way you feel, but know enough not to get lost in your emotions. It takes too much energy to pull yourself out of that pit. (We can’t always help what we FEEL, but it’s how we RESPOND to our FEELINGS that takes us in a good direction or a bad one.) Trust me, I know all of this from experience. Maybe you’ve been begging God to set you free from something. You wonder why you’re still dealing with baggage from your past…why you still struggle with something you want to put behind you. Maybe you need God to heal you, or you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Or maybe, you are trusting in God for a money need in your life. If you’ve been BEGGING, with all due respect…STOP IT right now! Begging God will NEVER put you where you want to be. Because…He’s already done it! God has already provided the win…in HIs mind, it’s already done, because of what Jesus accomplished when He died, was buried, and then was raised back to life again. Through His victory, we ALREADY HAVE the things we’re looking for. In the mind of God, all the things I mentioned above have already been made available to me as a follower of God… He sees me as healed ALREADY: 1 Peter 2:24 …By his wounds you HAVE BEEN healed. He sees me with all my needs supplied in abundance ALREADY: Philippian 4:19 …And my God will LIBERALLY SUPPLY (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. He sees me as SET FREE from baggage ALREADY: Colossians 1:13 …[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself OUT OF THE CONTROL and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love… You see, the things we’re begging for have already been purchased for us. If you want to know more verses for each topic above, just message me and ask. Because there are MORE THAN ONE for each need. Believe me, I know…these are life verses for me, and I depend on them daily. Bottom line is this: don’t give up! Stop begging for what ALREADY BELONGS to you, because if it’s yours (and it is), you need only to start believing and confessing that it belongs to you! Él me ve curado YA: 1 Pedro 2:24… Through my Created 2 Conquer channel on YouTube, I’ve already talked before about God’s “Benefit Package”…I take you to Psalm 103 to talk about that. You know how it is…when you apply for a new job, one of your first questions is always, “What’s my benefit package?” Well, when we serve and trust God, we ALSO have a special benefit package.
But we should also think about God’s “Protection Package,” too…especially in this time of pandemonium and people being really scared of the corona virus. When the virus comes up in conversation, I know I shock a lot of people when I say that I’m not worried about it. And I never do it from a standpoint of arrogance, but rather confidence in God and His Word and knowing that He’s already put together a great “Protection Package” for me and my family. I’m sharing about this today, because you can be just like me if you want to. I have to tell you, I lived afraid and on the verge of a nervous breakdown for too many years of my life; therefore, I will NEVER BOW AGAIN to fear that cripples. If I can do it, you can do it too. If we’re talking about protection from sickness and disease, I always like to go to Psalm 91. As we take a look here, remember that these were the promises from God under the Old Covenant; so, keep in mind how much BETTER our covenant is, because Jesus came. It’s stronger, more effective, and accomplishes MORE for us when we USE OUR FAITH to put the promises into motion by SPEAKING THEM through our own lips. You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. (Psalm 103:5-7 amplified version) Read it one more time, and let it sink in. When you read it, you either take it as absolute truth that applies to your life…or, you mentally dismiss some of it because you may doubt it can be like that for you. You know, for years that was my problem. Not only in the area of God’s protection, but when it came to healing, money, or receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I had MENTALLY ASSENTED to the fact that God had promised those things, but because my personal life experience had been different than what I read in the Bible, I decided that some of it was “figurative language” and not an ABSOLUTE TRUTH. Maybe you’re in the same boat. You’re reading what I’m writing, but you’re having some private thoughts somewhere along these lines: “Well, that sounds good and I wish it were true, but I’m not sure…” “I’ve seen it work for others, but I’m not sure God will do that for me…” “I’ve seen even Christians have bad things happen in their lives…so this isn’t for everyone, clearly.” Even if you feel this way today, I would encourage you to GET YOUR MIND RENEWED to what I’m explaining here. (Romans 12:1-2). Now, take a look at Acts 10:38. As you read, don’t write anything off. Determine in your heart to BELIEVE exactly what you read. How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him. In this verse, it’s really clear that sickness is an oppression of the devil, and not from God. Only sick people need a cure, and we read that the sick people were being “harassed and oppressed” by the devil. Therefore, based on this verse and the ones from Psalm 91 above, I can resist sickness, knowing it’s not from God. So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 amplified version) I can stand firm against any kind of virus, disease, or sickness because I know where it comes from (Acts 10:38), and I’m instructed to “resist the devil.” I resist sickness in my own life, in the lives of my kids, and even for my pets! Not too many weeks ago, I noticed this red welt kind of patch near my right armpit…sounds funny, right? It was itching like crazy, and I remembered the moment when I felt like something had bitten me when I was outside in the back yard. Well, it didn’t look bad initially, but the next day when I checked it out, wow..it was a weird, red, veiny patch, that was too big for my liking. I remembered what I’m saying to you right now, and commanded it to stop itching in Jesus’ name, and to leave my body. I moved on to something else, and didn’t let the appearance of it impress me. (We do that too often; we let what we see with our eyes nullify what the Word of God has already promised us. Stop!) The next day, I glanced again, and all the redness, itching and swelling was gone. All I have to say is, thank you Father! The skin was clear and normal again. One more thing…about 6 days ago, I noticed my big dog coming down the stairs and she had gunk in the corners of her eyes…not just once, but a few mornings in a row it had been like that. I thought privately, “Man, I don’t want to go to the hassle of driving to the vet, getting her checked out, and paying for it.” I remembered I could resist that eye problem in the name of Jesus - my dog is my property, and I have authority over her health. Laugh if you want to, but I commanded the flow to dry up in Jesus’ name, and it did. For the last couple of mornings, her eyes have been fine. For so many reasons, that’s a better route for me. I’m grateful to God. I hope this lifts you up today! Happy Thanksgiving! (Romanos 12: 1-2). Ahora, eche un vistazo a Hechos 10:38. Mientras lees, no descartes nada. In the middle of EVERYTHING going on right now, I think we’ve got to work harder than ever to keep from being easily offended, and too touchy. I speak from experience when I say this…
I’ve noticed a little bit of a shift in my daily interaction with people…some seem a little grumpy, and a little more irritable than usual. I’ve noticed the same thing in myself, too, so I’m not just pointing my finger at all the people around me. (And you’re dumb if you do that - if you constantly feel offended, and feel annoyed by “all those crazy people” around you, you may need to turn inward to see the true problem…it might just be YOU! It’s hard to hear these words, I know, but I always have to be honest with you when we talk.) Let me take it a step further…if you’re feeling offended by four or five people right now at the same time, and if your thoughts are constantly revolving around everything they’ve done to hurt you, you MAY BE the CULPRIT, and not them. When we’re too sensitive to those around us, and we find ourselves feeling constantly annoyed or offended by others, we just might be the one who needs to change. Carefully consider my words, because your future happiness and success depends on it! Now, let’s talk about FORGIVENESS. There are also times when other people act ugly, and we didn’t do anything to deserve it. We’re NOT being too sensitive, and they are genuinely mistreating us. Sometimes, we get hurt feelings and we legitimately have a reason to feel the way we do. In these cases, we have to be ready to FORGIVE. Keep this in mind: as things in the world close down again because of the covid virus, people in the general public will probably be feeling more and more frustrated because they want life to be normal again. I’m not just talking about people in the US - what happens up north, affects us in Central America. In fact, some of our restrictions have been more intrusive than those in North America. (Do some research and find out!) People have pressures from their work (or lack thereof), they are upset over political things, and they are dealing with the normal pressures of life and family. Add all this together, and it’s not hard to see why people in general are cranky! When we go out into the big beautiful world, we’ve got to keep these things in mind and leave people space. We’ve got to offer forgiveness freely, because we’re probably going to need it, too. You’re not alone, I’m working on this myself! Remember this: But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. (Matthew 6:15 Amplified version) Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. (1 Peter 4:8 Amplified version) I really love people! I know you do, too. I want them in my life, the good, bad, and ugly. Life is SO BORING if you’re not surrounded by all kinds of people…we’re all different, but we’ve got a lot to offer each other. Don’t fall into the trap of complete ISOLATION - I know there are people who have sincere concerns about the virus, and for that reason, don’t go out much anymore. BUT, we are fools if we completely separate ourselves from human interaction. Read this: He who willfully separates and estranges himself [from God and man] seeks his own desire and pretext to break out against all wise and sound judgment. (Proverbs 18:1 Amplified version) I know that some isolation is outside of your control right now - due to the virus. It’s like that for everyone. But find other ways to get that human touch! You need it, and so do those around you. |
