Chapter 5: Me and My Money (continued) I believe this is the reason so many people come to God (they “get saved” and are “born again”) but then become disappointed because “the promises” never come to pass for them. Little do they realize that God didn’t let them down. NO, He did not fail them. They let themselves down because they failed to meet His requirements. They never decided to trust Him and follow Him as far as offering the tithe. Maybe they went to a church where the pastor never talked about money or giving. Which might cause you to say, “It’s not their fault then.” But we all have the responsibility to do what we need to in order to learn more and grow up spiritually – we’ve actually got to dig into the Bible and listen to the Word of God preached! There are so many resources available to do this these days, by the way. More than ever before! There really are no excuses. This may be a hard pill to swallow right now. But don’t close the book and put it away. If you’ll listen, and I mean really listen to what I’m saying about tithing, you’ll be so glad you did. Tithing should become the lifestyle of the believer focused on serving and following God. Tithing should become a way of life that is never disrupted or done away with, even when times get tight and it seems like a better idea to keep your money! I know way too many Christians who don’t tithe. But then they wonder why they can’t seem to save anything, and why their things are always breaking down. Is that you today? They can’t seem to put away anything for the future, and they feel like they’re always a day late and a dollar short in life. I hate that, and we’ve all been there. But there is a remedy. Let me tell you a quick story. After we moved overseas to Costa Rica, there were some really skinny times when money just wasn’t flowing. Out of desperation, we started to learn about the tithe and giving, and the power of our words. We looked all over YouTube for Bible teachers who were willing to talk about money and what to do with it. We looked for Bible preachers who seemed to be successful, andwere doing things in the Kingdom of God. In short, we wanted advice from Christians who were succeeding because we wanted to find out how to do it too! When I say “succeeding,” let me clarify a bit: God had asked us to start a couple of schools in Central America, but we really didn’t have a dime to make it happen. We needed to find out how to believe God for money to do the projects He was asking us to do…we had seen others accomplish feats overseas, and we wanted to do the same. In fact, we needed to. Nunca decidieron confiar en Él y seguirlo en lo que respecta a ofrecer el diezmo. Tal vez fueron a una iglesia donde el pastor nunca habló sobre el dinero o las ofrendas. Por eso, tal vez quiere decir: “Entonces no es su culpa”. Pero todos tenemos la responsabilidad de hacerlo que sea necesario para aprender más y crecer espiritualmente; de hecho, ¡tenemos que profundizar en la Biblia y escuchar la Palabra de Dios predicada! Por cierto, hoy en día hay tantos recursos disponibles para hacer esto. ¡Más que nunca! En realidad no hay excusas. Puede que ahora te resulte difícil aceptarlo, pero no cierres el libro. Si me escuchas, y me refiero a que realmente me escuches, te alegrarás de haberlo hecho. El diezmo debería convertirse en el estilo de vida del creyente centrado en servir y seguir a Dios. El diezmo debería convertirse en una forma de vida que nunca se interrumpa ni se elimine, inclusocuando los tiempos se ponen difíciles y parece una mejor idea quedarse con el dinero. Conozco a muchos cristianos que no diezman, pero luego se preguntan por qué no puedenahorrar nada y por qué sus cosas siempre se estropean. ¿Te pasa a ti hoy? Parece que no puedeahorrar nada para el futuro y nunca tiene algo extra. Odio eso y todos hemos pasado por eso, pero hay un remedio. Déjame contarte una breve historia. Después de mudarnos a Costa Rica, hubo algunos momentos de mucha escasez en los que eldinero simplemente no fluía. Desesperados, comenzamos a aprender sobre el diezmo y la ofrenda, y el poder de nuestras palabras. Buscamos en YouTube maestros de la Biblia que estuvieran dispuestos a hablar sobre el dinero y qué hacer con él. Buscamos predicadoresbíblicos que parecieran tener éxito y que estuvieran haciendo cosas en el Reino de Dios. En resumen, queríamos consejos de cristianos que estuvieran teniendo éxito porque queríamosdescubrir cómo hacerlo también. Cuando digo “tener éxito”, déjenme aclarar un poco: Dios nos había pedido que comenzáramosun par de escuelas en Centroamérica, pero realmente no teníamos ni un centavo para hacerlo. Necesitábamos descubrir cómo creerle a Dios para obtener dinero para hacer los proyectos que nos estaba pidiendo que hiciéramos… habíamos visto a otros lograr hazañas en el extranjero y queríamos hacer lo mismo. De hecho, lo necesitábamos. Era nuestro propósito, dado por Dios.

Chapter 5: Me and My Money (continued) When you tithe, God says He will open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing you’re not able to contain! He says the devourer will be rebuked for your sake, and that your vine will not drop its fruit before the appointed time in the field. Those are some heavy promises! But what does that mean? If the devourer is rebuked, think about it like this: your kitchen appliances and your car won’t be breaking down all the time. Your money won’t get eaten up on dumb things that seem to come from nowhere. Your family can be healthy and stay healthy because of this promise. I’ve known a couple of women who have suffered miscarriage after miscarriage latch onto the promise that “your vine will not drop its fruit before the appointed time.” Once discovered, appropriating this promise by believing it’s true and saying it’s true has given them a successful pregnancy with a full-term delivery! Let’s dig even deeper. Think about what it would mean if the windows of heaven were literally opened over your life! It would mean you could own your own home, own your own car, and not be in debt. It would mean you could give to ANYONE, at ANY TIME, and for ANY REASON you decide is a good reason. It would mean special vacations with your family, and the ability to pay cash for things that would make your life more enjoyable. You would be able to help someone have a needed operation, or help a family in need buy a new refrigerator. You’re definitely not limited to those ideas, but these are the kinds of things I think about. I often use my imagination to “see myself” with the things promised in the Bible. In this case, I often take time to see myself with the good things God is offering, if only I’ll do my part and continually keep my covenant with God activated. Will you activate your covenant today? There are so many nagging doubts and reasons not to…believe me, if you’re not accustomed to tithing and giving satan will definitely try to fill your mind with all the reasons it’s just a bad idea. But don’t be a fool and stop there. Press past your feelings in order to make the right choice today. A lot of Christians struggle with their faith because they don’t see the promises of God happen for THEM—but they don’t meet the basic requirements. Giving the tithe is a basic, minimal requirement. The devourer is not rebuked when you don’t tithe. The windows of heaven cannot be opened when you don’t tithe. Dice que el devorador será reprendido por tu causa, y que tuvid no dejará caer su fruto antes del tiempo señalado en el campo. ¡Son promesas muy fuertes! Pero, ¿qué significa eso? Si el devorador es reprendido, piénsalo de esta manera: tus electrodomésticos de cocina y tu auto no se estropearán todo el tiempo. Tu dinero no se lo comerán las cosas tontas que parecen surgirde la nada. Tu familia puede estar sana y mantenerse sana gracias a esta promesa. He conocido a un par de mujeres que han sufrido abortos espontáneos tras abortos espontáneos y se aferran a la promesa de que “tu vid no dejará caer su fruto antes del tiempo señalado.” Una vez descubierta, la apropiación de esta promesa creyendo que es verdad y diciendo que es verdad les ha dado un embarazo exitoso con un parto a término. Significaría vacaciones especiales con tu familia y la capacidad de pagar en efectivo por cosas que harían tu vida más agradable. Podrías ayudar aalguien a tener una operación necesaria o ayudar a una familia necesitada a comprar un refrigerador nuevo. Definitivamente no estás limitado a esas ideas, pero este es el tipo de cosasen las que pienso. A menudo uso mi imaginación para "verme" con las cosas prometidas en la Biblia. En este caso, a menudo me tomo el tiempo para verme con las cosas buenas que Dios está ofreciendo, si tan solo hago mi parte y mantengo continuamente mi pacto con Dios activado. ¿Activarás tu pacto hoy? Hay tantas dudas y razones persistentes para no hacerlo... créame, si no está acostumbrado a diezmar y dar ofrendas, Satanás definitivamente intentará llenar su mentecon todas las razones por las que es una mala idea. Pero no sea así y se detenga allí. Deje de ladosus sentimientos para tomar la decisión correcta hoy. Muchos cristianos luchan con su fe porque no ven que las promesas de Dios se cumplen para ELLOS, pero no cumplen con los requisitos básicos. Dar el diezmo es un requisito básico y mínimo. El devorador no es reprendido cuando usted no diezma. Las ventanas de los cielos no se pueden abrir cuando usted no diezma. No se derrama ninguna bendición cuando usted no diezma. |
