Get a load of this! As you read it, look for the promise that belongs to you:
“Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name!… Who SATISFIES your mouth [your NECESSITY and DESIRE at your personal age and situation] with GOOD so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!” (Psalm 103:1, 5 AMPC) Maybe you need to let that soak in! To know that God wants to satisfy YOU with GOOD, is worth so much! Right here, we see that God is a good God, and He wants to do and give good things in our lives. I know this was exciting to me when I finally understood that concept. This is EXTREMELY important, because there are so many people who don’t know. But let’s take it a step further, because He gets even more specific: He tells us that He satisfies our mouth with GOOD, and He isn’t just concerned about what we need. No, He purposefully uses the words “necessity” AND “desire” because He’s thinking BEYOND our needs. There are some out there who say that God only cares about what we need, but that myth is dispelled here! No, God cares about what we NEED AND WHAT WE DESIRE! Doesn’t that line up with the Word? “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” This verse is from Psalm 37:4, Brigit’s shortened version. To top it all off, He talks about “our personal age and situation.” He is a specific God, and this gives us so much hope. God REALLY CARES about exactly what I’m facing at my age, and in my situation, right now. He wants to give me GOOD THINGS! Not only thinking of my needs, but also thinking of my desires. Our God is TRULY a GOOD GOD! Don’t ever believe the lie that He just doesn’t care about you, or what you’re facing. We see right here, that’s just not true. _____________________ ¡Vea este verso increíble! Esto es EXTREMADAMENTE importante, porque hay mucha gente que no lo sabe. Pero vayamos un paso más allá, porque Él es aún más específico: nos dice que satisface nuestraboca con BIEN, y que no se preocupa solo por lo que necesitamos. No, Él usa intencionalmentelas palabras “necesidad” Y “deseo” porque está pensando MÁS ALLÁ de nuestras necesidades. Hay algunos que dicen que a Dios sólo le importa lo que necesitamos, ¡pero ese mito se disipaaquí! ¡No, a Dios le importa lo que NECESITAMOS Y LO QUE DESEAMOS! ¿No se alinea eso con la Palabra? “Deléitate en el Señor, y Él te concederá los deseos de tu corazón.” De Salmo 37:4, la versióncortada por Brigit). Maybe you’ve been there too… You’re in a conversation with other believers, and you start talking about the news, or political things, or the ugly things going on in the world… Then someone pipes up and says, “Well, God is in control.”
But is that really true? Is God the author of the bad things you see happening in the world right now? Or maybe a better question is, does He permit bad things to happen? Or allow them to happen? I’m just writing it how I hear people say it sometimes. But there’s always been something that bothers me about this… Do you want to know why? In the presence of people who don’t know God, when we say, “God is in control,” we can actually drive them away from Him. If we hint around that He is somehow the author of all the craziness and chaos of the world today, it’s a problem. People won’t want Him, if they think He’s bad and not good. When we say this, we’re actually saying that God is the author of bad things… destruction, disease, war, tragedy, and more. Or at least that He permits them. Maybe people don’t mean it that way, but we need to be really careful in this area. 1. Remember, satan is the god of this world. He is the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2). Therefore, he is running things down here on earth. Believers have authority over him, and over his attempts to deceive them or to interfere in their lives, but many Christians don’t know that (Luke 10:19 and Ephesians 6:13). 2. Sometimes bad things happen on earth because of people's decisions. Think about it. It has happened to you too. Someone made a bad decision and it affected you. But it was not the work of God. People on earth have free will. Fortunately for you and me, we still have Romans 8:28 which says that all things work together for our good when we love God and are called according to his purpose (Brigit's paraphrase). God can still take bad and turn it into good, when we love Him and follow Him. I know your goal is like mine: you want to bring people closer to God and not farther from Him. God IS NOT in control, no matter what some people say. Learn about the authority that’s been delegated to you today! Read these verses: Luke 10:19, Ephesians 2:6 AMPC) Think about it. _____________________ Tal vez usted también ha estado allí... Showing mercy is a really big idea to God, so it should be important to us too. My favorite verse about mercy is this one:
For to him who has shown no mercy the judgment [will be] merciless, but mercy [full of glad confidence] exults victoriously over judgment. (James 2:13) Another version says it like this: For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. (James 2:13) In life, we often hurt others and get hurt ourselves. Hurt from divorce, unmet expectations from friends or family, not getting the promotion at work we think we deserve, not getting invited when you thought you would be…these are only a few ideas about the things in life that can leave us hurt. I picked them because they are especially prevalent today. Divorce rates are at an all-time high, and a lot of 20 somethings don’t even want to get married because of the hurt they felt when their parents were divorced! They don’t want to go through the same thing again, or cause pain for someone else! Social media has made the world a whole lot smaller, and it’s plain to see when you don’t get invited to something! Why? Because with one swipe of your phone screen, you see the pictures from the wedding, dinner, or weekend getaway you didn’t get invited to! When our feelings get hurt, we can have all kinds of thoughts run through our minds: “Well, the next time she asks me to help her, I just won’t be available!” Or, “The next time he needs me for something, there’s just no way I’ll do it!” Even though you might FEEL this way, God is asking us to live on a higher level. We just don’t get the privilege of living like the world (those without God) lives. More is expected where we’re concerned. So we’ve got to keep mercy at the forefront of our minds! And trust me, I understand the challenge! Let this motivate you: If you don’t show mercy, there will be no mercy for you when you stand before God. The verse above makes it clear that for those who don’t show mercy, the judgment will be without mercy! Well, no one wants to stand before God for his merciless judgment! Showing mercy means being good to someone, even when you think they don’t deserve it! In fact, that’s the whole point I’m trying to make! That’s actually what mercy is! Doing something nice for someone, or helping them out, when you KNOW they did nothing to deserve it. When we choose to live and act on that higher level, though, look out! We become eligible for God’s blessings, and for Him to move in our lives! Relate this Bible truth about showing mercy to what I wrote about last week and the week before…if I will do things that please God, and put what He wants first in my life, I can receive the prosperity God wants me to have! Cuando nos hieren los sentimientos, podemos tener todo tipo de pensamiento en la mente: “¡Bueno, la próxima vez que me pida que la ayude, simplemente no estaré disponible!” O, "¡La próxima vez que me necesite para algo, no habrá manera de que lo haga!" Aunque puedas SENTIRTE así, Dios nos está pidiendo que vivamos en un nivel más elevado. Simplemente no tenemos el privilegio de vivir como vive el mundo (aquellos sin Dios). Dios seespera más de nosotros. ¡Así que debemos mantener la misericordia en primer plano en nuestras mentes! Y créeme, ¡entiendo el desafío! Deja que esto te motive: si no muestras misericordia, no habrá misericordia para ti cuando estés delante de Dios. El versículo anterior deja claro que para aquellos que no muestran misericordia, ¡el juicio será sin misericordia! Bueno, ¡nadie quiere presentarse ante Dios por su juicio despiadado! Mostrar misericordia significa ser bueno con alguien, ¡incluso cuando creas que no lo merece! De hecho, ¡ese es el punto que estoy tratando de transmitir! ¡Eso es realmente la misericordia! Hacer algo bueno por alguien, o ayudarlo, cuando SABES que no hizo nada para merecerlo. “For the LOVE of money is a root of all evils…” (1 Tim. 6:10 AMPC) Having money is a good thing! In fact, God is okay with you being rich! Can you believe it? You’ve probably heard a lot of teaching and conversation that says the opposite, but ALWAYS let the Bible be your guide. Don’t take someone else’s word for it, because so many are deceived in this area. People have even left their faith behind because they thought God did’t want them to have anything of value. Read the above verse again…MONEY is NOT the root of all evils…but the LOVE of money is the root of all evils. Even if you’ve heard it taught the other way around, money is definitely not a problem. In fact, God is a fan of you having money and other things, even in abundance. “And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19) It’s plain to see that God thinks in terms of liberality. Not barely enough to get by. “And the Lord shall make you to have a surplus of prosperity… (Deut. 28:11) Being poor is NOT God’s plan for the ones who love and follow Him. Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor…” (Luke 4:18) What’s the good news? That you don’t have to be poor anymore! Doesn’t that just make sense? Think about it like this: if you’re a father or mother, does it make you happy when your kids don’t have enough? My kids are grown at this point, and when they are in lack, my heart nearly breaks because I don’t want them to go without. Well, as much as I love my own kids, God loves them even more! Doesn’t it make sense that He wouldn’t want US to be without what we need? Just as we don’t want our OWN CHILDREN to be without what they need? Furthermore, how can we give to help those around us if we don’t have anything? God wants us to have something to give others, and more than enough to supply our own needs. ________________________ Empecemos aquí: “Porque el AMOR al dinero es raíz de todo lo malo…” (1 Tim. 6:10 AMPC) ¡Tener dinero es algo bueno! De hecho, ¡a Dios le parece bien que seas rico! ¿Puedes creerlo? Probablemente hayas escuchado muchas enseñanzas y conversaciones que dicen lo contrario, pero SIEMPRE deja que la Biblia sea tu guía. No apenas lo suficiente para sobrevivir. “Y Jehová os dará abundancia de prosperidad… (Deuteronomio 28:11) Ser pobre NO es el plan de Dios para quienes lo aman y lo siguen. We’ve got to start here:
"Beloved, I would that you would prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers." 3 John 2. Wait a minute, I thought you were going to tell me about how to have more money, Brigit? Well, we have to take care of first things first. Because too many Christians find a few verses to support them getting something they really need or want to have, but they neglect and pay no attention to a foundational truth we find in the Bible. You see, money can ruin us if we go after riches like the world does. Have you ever known someone who came into a lot of money? Either by inheritance or maybe they won the lottery? Your jaw might’ve dropped when you heard about the huge sum of money they ended up with. You probably thought something like, “Wow, I want that to happen to me!” But then a couple years later, maybe even sooner, they had NOTHING. And maybe even a mountain of debt to go with their nothing. Not a good place to be! The promise of Bible prosperity and “having things” we can liken to the Bible promise of living in and having good physical health. Read the verse above one more time. God wants us to PROSPER and be in good health, even as our SOUL PROSPERS. Soul prosperity means growing up in the things of God…spending time with the Lord every day, and going after the things that are important to Him. Things like, showing love to other people, and caring about their needs (there are lots more, but let’s start there). Throw in asking others to forgive you if you’re hurtful. You’re getting it - going after and valuing the things that are a big idea to God. We’ve got to put time and effort into those things…and then we are eligible for God to start increasing us and what we have! And it’s not just the idea of “accumulating things” so that you have bragging rights and constantly make a big deal out of all the cool things you’ve got. No, it’s more like this: “The motivation for our accumulation is distribution.” Pastor George of Eagle Mountain International Church in Texas said that. It’s true. God wants us to have money, so that we can share it and do nice things for others when we want to or when He asks us to do it. Pretty cool. Here’s the heart of the matter—if you want to have wealth that’s described in the Bible, get busy growing up! Go after the things of God (Matthew 6:33), know what matters to Him most. ________________________ Tenemos que empezar aquí: “Amado, quisiera que tú prosperaras y tuvieras buena salud, así como prospera tu alma.” (1 Juan 2) Espera un momento, pensé que me ibas a contar cómo tener más dinero, Brigit?
