All the desks are complete for our first day of school! We had to stretch the building fund a bit to get all eight of the desks built...so we still need to get the chairs. They are about $60 each. If you want to help out with the sponsor of a chair, please hit the Paypal link below! THANKS!

The desks are in! Wow - they look amazing! I can just imagine all of the kids sitting there working so diligently - it is going to be awesome.
It's funny, isn't it, when everything is scootin' along just great and then you get some news that makes you go....ugh. As we finished up the desks, I found out that my truck has a bad radiator and needs a new one... ANNOUNCEMENT - devil - you will not win! God is bigger and He has all of the answers! We painted last Friday and the place is looking good! I am meeting the guys who are coming in to build our first eight desks at 7:00am tomorrow.
Thanks for following this blog! We only need sponsors for about seven more work stations...pray with us that it will alll come together in the Lord's timing! Pastor has asked me to preach this Sunday. I will be sharing out of the book of James, chapter 3.
Our words (our tongue) are so very important. I have been sharing this with my kids over the last few weeks. Every time I make a declaration of faith in our home, Abby says, "Your steering the family ship dad!" She is right! Our words are full of power! Some people got weird about this years ago and the phrase "blab it and grab it" came about. The truth is...we will have what we say (Proverbs 18:21 - The power of life and death is in the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit). Think about it this way - how was the world formed? God said let there be light, and there was! How are you saved? By confessing with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. If your eternal destiny is determined by the confession of your mouth (with faith in your heart), don't you think what goes on in your daily life can be affected by your words too? Ha! God is good! Today my friends, I challenge you to make the right confession with your mouth over your marriage, your children, your financial situation - whatever - and watch God begin to move on your behalf! Maybe this photo is TMI (too much information), but a few have asked about how I am healing up.
The sting ray "sting" was more like a knife slicing and stabbing me. I have been trying to rest and keep my foot elevated, but we have SO MUCH to do to get ready for the opening of our school (www.UvitaChristianAcaedmy.org) that it is difficult for me to sit idle... The prayers that have gone out for me from literally all over the world are so appreciated. Through this whole ordeal The Lord has been speaking to me to "HOLD FAST." Not to give in to frustration, fear or depression. He did not cause this to happen, but I am ever confident that He is going to use it for our good. The privilege of sharing Jesus with the people in this godless community is a big deal...the enemy does not like that we are here accomplishing so much by the grace of God, but he is the loser! We have the victory and will continue to press through. Thanks for your love and support! Be sure to email us and let us know what is going on in your world and how we can pray for you! In case you didn't hear, I (Scott) had a serious run-in with a sting-ray. After hours of excruciating pain, I am left only with a scare and a little nerve damage.
That same night, we had a snake show up in our living room. It was a crazy day. At the end of it all, we know that God is good, and faithful. I pray you have a safe New Year's Eve - may the Lord richly bless you in 2013! An ode to my friend Will Osgood...recently he told me that when we are in the center of God's will, everything we do is His bill. Love that!
Brigit and I have been diligently speaking scripture over our lives and ministry in regard to His provision for the school (James 3). Tonight we had another $500 donation for the school! Wow! We still have a way to go, but we are getting closer to hitting our goals - thank you Jesus! The photo below is from our "rancho" here in Costa Rica. From here, we can overlook the south end of town. I believe that God gave us this house to rent in this strategic location for a purpose. He wants the "heart" of Uvita turned toward Him; and we get to have a part in that! From this spot, we can pray for the people of the city on a regular basis. We have declared that Uvita belongs to Jesus Christ!
We are taking a few days to rest after our whirlwind trip to the US. It was wonderful to see family and friends - hard to believe we had already been gone for five months. The only disappointment is that we did not get see everyone on our list... We are getting more interest in the school daily. I received an email last night from Donald & Cristy (the other missionaries down here who are going to help with UCA) that another family in town has interest in sending their daughter! We know that The Lord is in this school! I want to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who are praying for the school and who have given financially. I promise that you are storing up treasures in heaven. The lives that are going to be forever touched by the hand of God through UCA are going to be many - and it is because you are making it possible! THANK YOU! All our love from Costa Rica! We had a great time yesterday with some dear pastors. It is so important for one generation to pass on God's wisdom to the next.
We are forever grateful for our relationship with Pastor Jim and Susie Day. |
