“My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.” Psalms 89:34
Touch of Fire Ministries (TOFM) was founded in 1999 with a passion to do one thing.. Scott and Brigit wanted to do their part to share the news about who Jesus really is! A journey that began in Indiana, United States, has now brought them around the globe and back again to settle in beautiful Costa Rica.
In the beginning, Scott and Brigit served as campus ministers at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Later, they served as pastors for five years at a church they founded in Greenwood, Indiana. They have also lead teams to the mission field in over 14 countries, have participated in bringing the Word of God to thousands through mass crusade evangelism, and have partnered with ministries in the nation of Nepal to love and assist orphaned children. Most recently, Scott and Brigit have relocated their family to the beautiful nation of Costa Rica in Central America. Along with their two children, Isaac and Abigail, Scott and Brigit moved to Uvita, Costa Rica in July of 2012. Only a short time later in February of 2013, they opened a private, Christian school called Uvita Christian Academy (UCA). UCA became a reality after they repeatedly felt the Holy Spirit urge them that God wanted “His voice to be heard” in the local area. There were already so many other voices! Brigit always says, "Besides excellence in learning (which is a must), UCA offers kids a taste of who God really is, because so many of them come from families where somebody got a bad dose of religion. When I share with them during our weekly chapel, I often feel like it's a personal mission of mine to help them see how cool and relevant He is!" Through some strategic partnerships from schools and people in the United States, UCA is the only Christian school along a vast stretch of the Pacific coastline where people from all over the world bring their families to live, settle down, or vacation. Scott and Brigit recently pioneered a second school in the second largest city in Costa Rica, San Isidro del General. They made plans slowly over time as they felt God directing them...their first day of classes was held in January 2018. Victory Christian School is growing, touching lives, and expanding under the leadership of directress Sharon Salazar. In addition, Scott and Brigit are ready and willing to help others realize their personal passion for evangelism and call to ministry through various means. They host mission teams in Costa Rica, choose to partner with like-minded ministries around the world, participate in community outreach with local Christian ministries in Costa Rica, and host teachers who are willing to serve at Uvita Christian Academy. Brigit has also written her first book, titled, “Leading Ladies in the House of God.” It offers hope and help to women in the Body of Christ who seek godliness in relationships, both personal and professional. Please feel welcome to Contact Scott & Brigit with your questions, requests for mission trip information, or just to hear more about what God has called them to do with their lives! |
